Winters at Ballast Lodge
Winter is the perfect time to hibernate for a few days, away from all your pressing obligations and over-stuffed schedule. And Ballast Lodge is the perfect place to do that! A few minutes of stillness and silence outside can work wonders for your soul, whether you only go as far as our Big Orange Chair overlooking the Bay, or you decide to hike along the path. Prefer to stay cozy inside? Bring your own reading material, or peruse our eclectic assortment of books. Do a puzzle, play a game, take all the naps! We’ve even got two “escape room” challenges for you to try.
Does that sound nice but impossible? Do you already feel like you’re barely keeping up with all the things that have to get done? That is true for most people. And the reality is, your schedule is not going to magically open up. You need to make it happen.
The good news is this: you don’t have to go far or for a long time. Ballast Lodge is centrally located in Atlantic Canada, and we have plenty of availability this winter and spring for stays as short as two nights. Come alone or with your spouse. Bring your family or a couple of friends. Visit ballastlodge.ca to book your stay.
Principle Pursuit
Are you, or someone you know, looking for a fun way to invest in your marriage? Whether you’re newlyweds, celebrating 40 years together, or anywhere in between, Principle Pursuit is a fantastic way to remind yourself (or learn for the first time) some of the skills it takes to keep your marriage on track. Work together to complete a series of challenges (or pursuits) and discuss the accompanying principles along the way. Each completed pursuit will earn you a codeword which you will use to do the final puzzle and open the prize box. Click on ‘retreat options’ at ballastlodge.ca to learn more.
Personal Update
Life has brought some happy developments for the Neumans over the past few months, with more to come this year. Our youngest child headed off to university last summer, so we are officially empty-nesters now. It has brought us great joy to see him adjusting well as he’s balancing his studies and competing with the UNB track and field team. In September, we were able to spend 10 days in Calgary, visiting our daughter and son-in-law in their new home. And we are excitedly looking forward to celebrating our other daughter’s wedding this spring.
Pat has finished his contract as the addictions counselor at Teen Challenge, and is settling back into software development as his full-time job—although he still helps out at TC occasionally. Anita keeps quite busy with the women’s ministry that she co-founded (morningbymorning.ca) and she’s also taking online courses through Okanagan Bible College.
It is our deep pleasure to share our little piece of paradise with people who need some rest and solitude. Word of mouth is still the very best marketing tool, so if you have stayed here before, would you tell someone else about Ballast Lodge? You can forward this newsletter, engage with us on Facebook, or we would be happy to send you some brochures. We are also always looking for ways to improve our services, so if you have any cool ideas or requests for us, hit ‘reply’ and let us know.
